Hi, I’m Tess!
A little bit about me…
Hi I’m Tess. I’m a twenty-something year old feminist who is stepping away from my seven-year career as a physiotherapist to embark on the next exciting phase of my life: becoming a doctor! I enjoy staying active with running and yoga and listen to music like it’s going out of fashion.
The thing about life is that the more you live it, the more you learn about who you are and what inspires you. It amazes me how much I have transformed throughout my twenties, learning from all of the exciting new experiences, challenges, and even the down times. Through this blog I aim to document my experience as I embark on four years of post-graduate medical school and to share with you what I have learned in my career and life so far.
Welcome to The Tess Files
The purpose of this blog..
When I decided to pursue post-graduate medicine, particularly as a someone who had been out of university for a long time, I didn’t know where to start! This blog aims to clear up some of the questions and misconceptions about getting into medical school, and I will go over some of the tips and tricks that helped me with the long admissions process, as well as the day to day aspects of medical school.
Not only will I cover my journey to becoming a doctor, but my blog will also serve as a platform for me to explore other topics that I am passionate about, such as feminism, environmentalism, equality, and global health. I hope to learn more about these topics as I write about them, forming a community of like-minded people.
I am a creative being at heart and have often found combining my academic side with creativity to be challenging. Writing has always been a passion of mine, but up until this point my private diaries have been my only outlet. I am also keen to explore other creative mediums such as photography and film and feel like this blog is the perfect space for me to experiment with these as well!
My ambition is to create a space for the sharing of experiences and open-minded discussions about topics that are both inspiring and challenging, so that we can all learn from each other a become better humans as a result!
